The focus of this group is to identify existing robotics standards, frameworks and tools and then develop open standards for the creation of future robotics platforms. Existing Robot Standards exist for Industrial Robots such as ISO TC 299 https://committee.iso.org/home/tc299, and they continue to be developed, but the Hobbyist and Personal Robotics Industry is undergoing a massive transformation. As a result open, defacto standards need be developed and documented while the existing standards are modernized. This is required in order to meet and expedite the future growth in the robotics industry.

Providing open defacto standards that enable the interoperability of robotics hardware, software, and communication protocols will create a foundation for the development of future robotics platforms.

… now where do we start?
